Team Building – Motivate Your People to Work Together

Needs for Team Building

Most job advertisements nowadays will mention, alongside the usual requirements (such as experience, languages and computer skills), that the successful candidate should be a “team player” or have “team spirit”. The concept of the “team” in the office has increased in importance over the last decades, with employers realizing that the social side of the work place has an important part to play – a tightly bonded, well-balanced team can boost productivity and improve morale. To this end many companies organize team building events.

What is a team building event?

These events are extremely varied. They can range from a simple dinner or activity, such as bowling or a karaoke evening, in-door games to a full-blown outdoor adventure. The length of time employees are away from work can range from a day to a weekend, even to a week or more in cases where the exercise takes place abroad. Employees enjoy a combination of work and play – many team building weekends do indeed combine standard training (managers may give a presentation or seminar on the company’s results and future.

What are the Praxis team building objectives?

By organizing team building events, Praxis hope to develop or strengthen team bonding and help teams work more effectively together. Employees are put in an unusual environment away from the office and need to work as a team to achieve an objective. This not only gives employees an insight into their own behavior, it also gives them the opportunity to see colleagues in a different light and – more importantly – it gives an insight into the dynamics within the team. Companies will be able to notice how well employees work together, how they react to stress, who has leadership abilities, and which conflicts in the wilderness may reflect conflicts in the work place.
